Each single cell of a Lifepo4 battery must be protected against overvoltage, undervoltage and over temperature. The Ve.Bus BMS takes over exactly this task. The product is suitable for protecting 12V, 24V and 48V batterys and works in a operating voltage range of 9 - 70 VDC.
VE-BUS BMS in interaction with Victrons Lifepo4 Batteries
Victron LIFEPO4 batteries have a built-in cell compensation, temperature and voltage control (short brief designation: BTV) You will be connected to the VE.BUS BMS via two M8 round connector cable sets. The BTVs of several batteries can be chained together. Up to five batteries can be switched in parallel and up to four batteries (BTVs are simply chained), so that a 48 V battery bank can be assembled with up to 1500 AH. Core tasks of Victron Ve.bus BMS
- Switch off or separate loads in the event of an impending undervoltage
- Reduce the charging current in the event of an immediate upcoming cell overvoltage or over temperature (only for Ve.Bus products)
- Switch off or separate the battery chargers in the event of an imminent cell overvoltage or over temperature
Communicates with all Ve.Bus products
The Ve.Bus BMS can be connected to a multiplus, quattro or phoenix inverter device. The connection takes place via a standard RJ45 UTP cable.
The Ve.Bus BMS in interaction with other batteries
LIFEPO4 Batteries of other manufacturers can be controlled with the device as follows:
"Load Disconnect" (separate load)
The output "Load Disconnect" (separate load) is usually on high and is placed on "Free Floating" when a cell sub voltage is imminent. Maximum current: 2a.
The output "Load Disconnect" can be used to control the following functions:
- Remote controlled on/off a load and/or
- Remote-controlled on/off an electronic load switch (batteryprotect))
"Charge Disconnect" (separate charging)
The output "Charge Disconnect" (separate charging) is usually on high and becomes "free floating" when a cell overvoltage or over temperature is imminent. Maximum current: 10 ma.
The output "Charge Disconnect" can be used to control the following functions:
- Remote-controlled on/off of a charger
- and/or a Cyrix-Li charger relay
- and/or a Cyrix-Li-CT battery coupler
