Security for the battery
The Votronic Automatic Charger, which are equipped with the latest charging technology and designed for all standard lead batteries, ensure the right battery charge (see chapter charging technology). The Votronic Standby Charger serves to automatically recharge and load the starter battery or the additional battery if the network charger, the solar loader or the generator only has a charging output. The device can be easily retrofitted by simply switching between the on-board and start battery or on-board and additional battery without having to change the existing cabling.
For example, if the network charger is in operation and loads the on-board battery, the second battery (start battery or additional battery) is also included with a small part of the charging current. This loading is automatically working and can be seen by an increased voltage situation of the second battery. An overload of the second battery is excluded because the charging voltage is lowered by at least 0.6V and the charging current is limited to 3a (24V variant: 2a).

The VCC 1212-90 from Votronic (3329) is a fully automatic, non-isolated battery charging converter for special vehicles, high-quality motorhomes and boats. The charging converter (booster) of the "VCC" series has been developed according to the latest specifications for the mobile charging of supply batteries (living area/on-board batteries) from the alternator (starter battery) while driving. The device also ensures a complete IU1oU2 charging characteristic while driving. For lead batteries (acid, gel, AGM), the charging voltage is automatically adjusted to the battery temperature. This ensures a better full charge of the weaker battery in cold weather and avoids unnecessary battery gassing in summer temperatures.
LiFePO4 batteries: Battery protection at high temperatures and, in particular, adapted charging at low temperatures below 0 °C. Charging aid for deeply discharged lead batteries: Gentle pre-charging of the (lead-acid, lead-gel, AGM) battery up to 8 V, then powerful support for the battery if consumers are still switched on.
Also ensures the automatic activation of a LiFePO4 battery switched off by the BMS.
What added value does the use of a B2B charging converter offer me?
The charge converters ensure optimum and fast charging of the supply battery from the alternator while driving. In contrast to a simple cut-off relay, the charging voltage is raised to the value required by the battery manufacturer for a full charge for the respective battery type. This means that the full charging current can flow and a considerable amount of current can be charged into the battery in a short time. Long charging cables and losses as well as voltage fluctuations at the alternator are neatly compensated for. In the case of charging converters with different input and output voltages (12V/24V or 24V/12V), it is also possible to charge a second battery without installing a second alternator. The charging converters thus provide the well-known high quality of battery charging of the VOTRONIC chargers even while driving. The intelligent microprocessor charging control with "IU1oU2oU3" charging characteristics and dynamic charging time calculation automatically ensures fast and gentle full charging as well as subsequent full charge retention of the connected batteries from any state of charge and always enables the simultaneous supply of consumers in parallel with the supply battery.
