The Victron shunt 500A - 50mV is required for ammeters with analogue or digital display instruments, as these are usually realized by measuring a very small voltage on a shunt. In the case of Victron Smartshunts IP65 500A - 2000A, this is 50mV. The smaller the measurement voltage at the shunts, the lower the impact on the rest of the system circuit. At 50mV, this provides an excellent value.
