Starter batteries

Starter batteries are specifically designed to deliver high current for a short time to crank the engine. They play a critical role in vehicles such as cars, motorcycles and boats. Traditional lead-acid batteries—especially lead–calcium types—have long been established in this role. They provide reliable performance and are inexpensive to purchase, but they are more susceptible to deep discharge and have a limited service life compared with other battery chemistries. By contrast, lithium iron phosphate (LiFePO₄) starter batteries offer several advantages. They are lighter and more compact than lead-acid batteries, making them ideal for applications where weight and space matter, such as in vehicles and boats. LiFePO₄ batteries have a longer lifetime, allow deeper discharge and deliver better performance at extreme temperatures. They are also less prone to sulphation and recharge more quickly.
