The Smartsolar MPPT 250/60-MC4 from Victron Energy, belongs to the latest generation of smart solar controllers from the Dutch premium manufacturer. The controller processes a whopping 60A of solar power and can work flexibly with 12/24/36/48 V batteries with a maximum PV input voltage of 250V DC. Ultra-fast power tracking and automatic power point detection in the event of partial shading are just two of the many highlights of this new device class. This model is also capable of parallel operation with other controllers of the same type.
In comparison to the Smartsolar 150 series, the 250 series can handle a maximum PV input voltage of 250V. This is also one of the reasons why the 250 series solar controller family has been able to increase efficiency by another 1 percent to a total of 99%, setting new industry standards. This value is currently the best of all solar charge controllers that we know of. Compared to the BlueSolar family, the Bluetooth module is already integrated in the controller of the 250 Smartsolar series, which makes the smart dongle superfluous for this device if you want to analyze and configure the controller via Bluetooth using a smartphone or tablet. Another new feature is the optional LCD display, which can simply be attached to the SmartSolar 250/60-MC4 as required. The display then provides all the important information about the controller. If required, the MPPT WireBox-L MC4 from Victron Energy is the ideal addition to your SmartSolar charge controller. It securely covers the cable entries and connection terminals of the controller, protecting them from external influences and contact.

Configuration and analysis via Victron Connect App
Modern Apple and Android smartphones, tablets, Macbooks and other devices can be connected thanks to the permanently integrated Bluetooth module and the free Victron Connect APP. The app can then be used to configure many important functions of the SmartSolar controller. Of course, it also provides all important parameters such as the current solar yield in real time.
Automatic detection of the maximum power point in the event of partial shading
In the event of partial shading, there may be two or more maximum power points (MPP) on the current-voltage curve. Conventional MPPTs tend to adjust to a local MPP. However, this may not be the optimum MPP. The innovative algorithm of the SmartSolar controller will always maximize the energy yield by adjusting to the optimal MPP.
New generation high-speed MPP trackerIn particular in overcast conditions, when light intensity is constantly changing, an extremely fast MPPT controller improves the energy yield by up to 30% compared to PWM charging controllers and by up to 10% compared to slower MPPT controllers.
