The VCC 1212-70 from Votronic (3328) is a fully automatic, non-isolated battery charging converter for special vehicles, high-quality motorhomes and boats. The charging converter (booster) of the "VCC" series has been developed according to the latest specifications for the mobile charging of supply batteries (living area/on-board batteries) from the alternator (starter battery) while driving. The device also ensures a complete IU1oU2 charging characteristic while driving. The maximum charging current of the VCC 1212-70 is 70A and it can work with lead-acid, gel, AGM1, AGM2 and LiFePO4 batteries. This device converts a 12V battery / alternator into a 12V battery.
In contrast to conventional cut-off relays, the charging voltage is lowered or raised according to the charging program specification, making it particularly suitable for EURO standard 6, 6 + plus vehicles.
Universally applicable all-rounder
For on-board batteries in classic lead-acid, lead-gel or lead-AGM as well as modern lithium-LiFePO4 technology, the 8 selectable charging programs ensure a monitoring-free, fast and gentle full charge from any state of charge with subsequent full maintenance and care of the battery. Even on short journeys, the battery is charged with the full charging current. Connected 12 V consumers are automatically supplied with power, even if the on-board power supply is heavily loaded. The automatic power control ensures the necessary safety and starting ability of the vehicle.

Parallel and buffer mode: The battery continues to be charged or is kept full when the vehicle is being used at the same time. The device automatically calculates and monitors the adjustment of the charging times. &patch-free charging: Multiple protection against overload, overheating, overvoltage, short circuit, misbehavior and battery back discharge through electronic regulation up to complete separation of device and battery.

Integrated on-board filter: Problem-free parallel operation with other charging sources (EBL, chargers, engine and fuel generators, solar systems) on one battery.

Charging cable compensation: Voltage losses on the charging cables are automatically compensated for.

For lead batteries (acid, gel, AGM), the charging voltage is automatically adjusted to the battery temperature. This ensures a better full charge of the weaker battery in cold weather and avoids unnecessary battery gassing in summer temperatures.

LiFePO4 batteries: Battery protection at high and, in particular, adapted charging at low temperatures below 0 °C. Charging aid for deeply discharged lead batteries: Gentle pre-charging of the (lead-acid, lead-gel, AGM) battery up to 8 V, then powerful support for the battery if consumers are still switched on.

Also ensures the automatic activation of a LiFePO4 battery switched off by the BMS.
What added value does the use of a B2B charging converter offer me?
The charging converters ensure optimum and fast charging of the supply battery from the alternator while driving. In contrast to a simple cut-off relay, the charging voltage is raised to the value required for the respective battery type for a full charge and demanded by the battery manufacturers. This means that the full charging current can flow and a considerable amount of current can be charged into the battery in a short time. Long charging cables and losses as well as voltage fluctuations at the alternator are neatly compensated for. In the case of charging converters with different input and output voltages (12V/24V or 24V/12V), it is also possible to charge a second battery without installing a second alternator.
The charging converters thus provide the well-known high quality of battery charging of the VOTRONIC chargers even while driving. The intelligent microprocessor charge control with "IU1oU2oU3" charging characteristics and dynamic charging time calculation automatically ensures fast and gentle full charging as well as subsequent full charge retention of the connected batteries from any state of charge and always enables the simultaneous supply of consumers in parallel with the supply battery.
