The Offgridtec 3-way solar connector branch sockets (8-01-010335) are used to connect 3 modules together in parallel. Their design is identical to the 2-way junction sockets, but you can save costs by using these connectors as you can always connect 3 modules in parallel instead of 2.
Important article features
3-way junction sockets for parallel connection of several solar modules
Suitable for cables with a cross-section of 4 mm;for cables with a cross-section of 4mm²-6mm²
compatible with solar connectors ideal for 12V systems and thin-film modules
Snap-in locking
Protection class IP67
What does parallel connection mean?
In a parallel circuit, the positive and negative lines are connected to one output. This circuit increases the current and the voltage remains the same.
Practical example: You want to connect 3 pieces of 100 Watt (Imp=5.56A Vmp 17.8V) solar modules to a charge controller with 20A and a maximum input voltage of 30V/DC. To ensure that you do not exceed the permitted input voltage, you must wire the modules in parallel. So plus to plus and minus to minus.
If you now measure the string, you should be able to measure the following values under ideal lighting conditions: Imp= 16.68A and Vmp = 17.8V. This means that your solar configuration matches the charge controller perfectly.
