Note that the solar charge controller may only be used with solar panels up to the maximum power specification (Wp) and below the maximum permissible voltage (Voc). In addition, the controller is not suitable for input connection (+/- solar panels) of wind, water, fuel or motor generators, power supplies, batteries or other power sources.

MPP solar controller for high-quality motorhomes, caravans and boats. Votronic solar controllers of the "MPP" (Maximum Power Point) series with "IU1oU2" charging characteristics are connected as a link between solar panel(s) and battery(ies). With MPP technology, the controller automatically determines the maximum power output (MPP) of the solar modules several times a second. It then converts the solar panel's excess voltage to a higher charging current for the battery (achieved by high-frequency, high-efficiency switching regulator technology). This gain in charging current ensures shorter charging times and the best possible use of the solar system's performance. The MPP solar controllers work fully automatically, are maintenance-free and offer the following functions:

  • MPP charging current increase compared to conventional controllers by using the latest controller technology (microprocessor) by 10% to 30% (efficiency > 95%). The increase in performance is particularly evident in the cooler seasons and e.g. B. in high fog, low and diffuse lighting (overwintering).
  • For charging lead-gel, lead-AGM, lead-acid batteries or LiFePO4 complete batteries (with integrated BMS, balancing, safety circuit and approval!) of the specified nominal voltages and the co-supply of consumers connected to these batteries in permanently installed Systems with the specified battery capacities and charging programs.
  • The charging voltage is peak-free and regulated in such a way that the batteries cannot be overcharged.
  • Two battery charging outputs: Automatic charging of the main supply on-board battery (BOARD I) as well as support charging and trickle charging (max. 1 A) of the vehicle starter battery (Start II) with protection against overcharging.
  • Supervision-free charging: Standard protection against overload, overheating, reverse polarity and reverse battery discharge (if the solar power is too low, e.g. at dusk, at night, etc.).
  • Parallel/buffer operation: Compliance with charging regulations even when consumers are operated at the same time.
  • Overcharge protection: regulates the charging current of the battery when there is too much solar power and the battery is full, ensures that the battery is as charged as possible when power is consumed by immediately recharging.
  • "IU1oU2" charging characteristic: Defined charging voltage increase (U1) prevents harmful acid stratification (lead) and ensures equalization charging of the individual battery cells (lead and lith.), followed by automatic trickle charging (U2).
  • Charging cable compensation: Voltage losses on the charging cables are automatically corrected.
  • On-board network filter: Problem-free parallel operation with wind and motor generators, mains chargers, alternators, etc.
  • Measuring output for EBL, possibly existing electro block in the living area of the vehicle: Enables the convenient use of a (solar) current display built into the electro block to control the solar system.
Please be sure to check the compatibility of your Schaudt Electroblock (EBL) and the corresponding control and display panel in advance, as we cannot assume any liability for this.
  • Switching output "AES" (only MPP 250, MPP 350 and MPP 430): If there is a permanent excess of solar power, the refrigerators with "AES" (Automatic Energy Selector, Electrolux / Dometic) automatically switch over from gas to 12 V operation.
  • Connection for battery temperature sensor (item no. 2001): With lead batteries, the charging voltage is automatically adapted to the battery temperature, resulting in better full charging of the weaker battery in cold weather, unnecessary battery gassing and - burden avoided.
LiFePO4 batteries: Battery protection at high and especially at low temperatures. Absolutely recommended if the battery temperature can fall below 0°C during operation.
  • Ready to plug in for the connection of the Votronic solar display devices LCD-Solar Computer S for optimal control of the system.
