The Victron Shunt 2000A - 50mV (MPN SHU202050200) is required for ammeters with analog or digital display instruments, because these are usually realized by measuring a very small voltage on a shunt. In the case of the Victron shunts 1000A - 6000A it is 50mV. The following applies: the smaller the measuring voltage at the shunts, the lower the effects on the remaining circuit of the system. With 50mV this delivers an excellent value.
The shunt is installed in the line with the current to be measured. The small voltage dropping across this resistor is evaluated with a measuring device such as the Victron battery monitor BMV 700 and values such as the current flow of current are derived from this and displayed.
