The Smart BMS 12/200 from Victron Energy (MPN BMS210055000) for intelligent Victron lithium iron phosphate batteries (LIFEPO4) was specially developed for 12V systems with a 12V light machine. It combines a current limiter, battery coupler and battery tenant in a robust and compact solution. The Smart BMS 12/200 monitors and protects each battery cell individually within the battery (or battery sector) and separates the connection to the alternator, the loading sources or the DC loads in the event of a low/high battery voltage or an over-temperature.
The dedicated generato connection ensures current limitation and disposable traffic from the alternator to the battery, so that alternator of all size (and starter batteries) can be safely connected to the smart lithium battery and the starter battery is protected from excessive unloading. The BMS is equipped with Bluetooth for monitoring and configuration, a remote-one / out connection, to switch off the BMS (and the system) via a switch and a pre-alarm contact and give a warning signal U before the BMS connection between the battery and system separate.

Sighting machines and batteries protection

The input current is electronically limited to approx. 90% of the safety value. A 100A fuse, for example, limits the input current to approx. 90a. The choice of the right backup enables the LFP battery to protect against excessive charging current (important in the case of an LFP battery with low capacity). In addition, in the case of an LFP battery bank, the alternating current generator is protected with a high capacity from overload (most 12V AC generators overheat and fail if they are in operation for more than 5 minutes at maximum).

Load/battery charger output/input (power supply book system+)

The LFP battery can either be loaded or unloaded using this power supply socket (i.e. via a charger or an inverter) with a maximum permanent current of 200A in both directions. Can also be used as a load exit so that DC loads can be connected directly to this connection. The connection is short -circuit -resistant with a top charging current of 400A. The Smart BMS ensures that unloading the battery is switched off when the cell under tension is threatening. It enables charging via this connection, but no charging algorithm can be used internally.

Lithium-ion battery protection

Excessive input voltages and transients are regulated to a safe level. The Smart BMS stops the charging process in the event of a cell overvoltage or over temperature. It has three outputs: /p>

  • Load separation output: The load exit can be used to control the distance/output of a battery protection, an inverter, a DC/DC converter or other loads.
  • Preliminary alarm output: The pre -alarm output can be used as a warning if the battery voltage is low and it will trigger shortly before deactivating the load separation due to the undervoltage of the cell. It can be used to control a relay, an LED or a summer. It can be configured as a continuous or intermittent signal.
  • Load separation output: The output of the charger is usually high and becomes freely floating when the cell is threatening or over temperature. The “Charger” output can be used to control a remote-controlled on/off of a charger, a Cyrix-Li-Laderelais or a Cyrix-Li-CT battery coupler.

An inconsistent or inverting in/off cable may be required.

Fern-in/output, also as a system on/off configurable

The remote/output controls the loading process via the alternator, while the BMS functionality remains active regardless of the remote and state. The remote control can also be used as an on/off switch of the system. This can be configured with VictronConnect.
